Christmas Performance...

Brandon had his Christmas singing performance this evening at the SV High School. He sang with his 4th grade class and he was AWESOME! He remembered the words, did all the hand gestures, and had a great time. It was fun to see him with his friends and showing us what he learned. He's been singing for me all last week getting me excited to see him on stage - he's a natural at it - just like his sister Sarah in her music. What a fun way to bring in the holidays - Thanks Bran!!! I love you buddy....:) Posted by Picasa

Uh huh - that's right!!

Isn't this shirt cool ??? Okay here's what we did today at the club house.....

row 1000 meters warm up
stretches

Tabata squats
run Caldwell loop (approx. 800 meters)
Tabata squats

I did all real pull ups (no jumping) and deep dipps on the parallel bars (no jumping).

WOW my arms feel great!! I also ran this morning for 5 miles on Lilly....my right hip has been a little sore so I haven't been able to up my miles yet - hopefully next week.
Get out there and MOVE today..... Posted by Picasa

The Anderson sisters!!

This is me and my cousin Jeni when we were small...Jeni and I are more like sisters and were always together when we were growing up. During high school she lives a few blocks away from me and we managed to get into a lot of trouble together, and hang out almost every day. She's probably gunna be pissed that i posted this pic, but I love it because I'm holding her hand....I always wanted to protect her and keep her safe. I still feel that way - I want her to be happy, safe, protected....her husband Sean does a great job of that for me. She's moved to Texas so I haven't seen her in a while and it sucks! Although we talk daily.....during the past year when I was going through my divorce, my friends leaving me, trying to figure out what i was goingt o do with my life - Jeni was the one who was there for me. She always had something encouraging to say to me, and also told me that hard stuff that I needed to hear - not just the stuff i wanted to hear. I love her for that!! I have a huge family and have grown up with many cousins - all are my best friends. My dad had something like 9 brothers and sisters, they all had kids and we always did things together. Picnics, baseball games, outings to the snow...stuff like that. When I was little I took for granted the fact that I had such a huge caring loving family - now that I'm older I realize how lucky I was. Most people I know don't have a big family and they aren't close with them. Growing up I alwasy had at least 4 aunts/uncles and numerous cousins within a few blocks of me. Jeni, Michele, Lisa, Christine, Patty, Cliff, Tony, Stacy....I saw them all the most and went to school with some of them. Whatever size family you have - cherish them all. I can't wait to see everybody at Christmas and have some yummy food, and catch up withthose who have moved away. Jeni won't be there and i hate that! Maybe next year ???Kiss your family this Christmas.......:) Posted by Picasa

Keener Clan....

This is my son Brandon, myself, and my beautiful daughter Sarah at the Christmas tree lot. When I look at this picture I realize how much they have grown! Or how much I am shrinking with age :0 I can't believe I created such amazing talented beautiful people. They may stress me out from time to time, as is normal, but the fact remains that I am SO PROUD to be called their mother. It remains the single greatest accomplishment in my little life. My hope for them is that they protect every dream they have and they go after them with vengence! I hope to do the same.....

Hug your kids and tell them they make your life wonderful!! Posted by Picasa

Tree Hunting....

Today Brendan and I took the kids to the local Christmas Tree farm to pick out a tree. We were planning on cutting one down at Cress Ranch, but decided we didn't have the time that it would take to drive there and hike the hillside in search for the 'perfect tree.' Besides, the kids already cut one down with their dad last weekend. We ended up getting the perfect tree for our little beach house, and it fits great ! We hung out this afternoon and decorated the tree together - it was a fun time and I'm glad I got to share this Christmas with Brendan. I've been a little moody lately, and he has been more than patient with me - sometimes all the things I left behind, all the changes that I've gone through and all the unknown that lies ahead of me takes over completley, and I feel almost paralyzed by the thought of it all. I mostly try to remain positive and have an excited attitude about life - but sometimes I get introverted and go within myself to sort my feelings and figure out what i don't like and how to change it. I've never really thought about how it might be affecting Brendan, or how he might take those introverted times of mine the wrong way. I do now. The last thing I want is to put a wall between us in our relationship. I am learning so much!! Tomorrow I have a meeting with my client Heidi and I am excited to get started training her and teaching her about the Zone. Tomorrow is our first consultation and we will go from there. ...I can't wait! Have a great day everybody - tell the people dear to you that you love and appreciate them :) Posted by Picasa

Happy Saturday!!

I am a little behind on blogging - I haven't been taking too many pictures I guess :0 - so here's a pic of my new darker hair color that Jason over at Stranded Beauty Bar did for me yesterday. I love dark hair on me - nobody knows that i am really a dark blonde - it's my secret. Anyway - workouts.....
Yesterday I did Brendan's 9am class which was this :

5 snatches left arm 30 pounds
5 snatches right arm 30 pounds
5 hand stand push ups
2 rope climbs

5 rounds for time. I don't remember what my time was but I got done first.... Went for a 7 or so mile run this morning along East Cliff which was cool because I have been running on the treadmill trying to get my hip feeling better. It was giving me a little trouble, but for the most part I felt great just getting outside and running. Today Brendan, Brandon and I are going to one of B's clients house (he's also a good friend) to bake cookies and hang out. I haven't started baking for Christmas yet - guess I'm trying to stay AWAY from that so i don't eat it all.....as long as I limit myself to ONE I'll be okay. (But we all know how THAT goes, don't we)!! I've lost some weight since the marathon, which always happens, so I'm down 4 pounds from normal which puts me at 102 - so I can afford to step out of the Zone for a taste of sweets today.....I can't wait!! I'll make sure to bring along my organic beef jerkey and cashews to balance it out though..Have a great day everybody !!!- Posted by Picasa

80's Game night!!!

Brendan, Cobra and I played a new 80's Trivia Game last night and had a lot of fun!! Man...I had no idea so much useless information was in our brains! I almost won (being the 80's chick that I am) but Cobra ended up taking the game!!! Guess he's`more 80's than I am ;) here's a sample question for you :

"What Matthew Broderick film finds his character losing his innocence to a hooker names Rowena?"

Give up.....Biloxi Blues

Anyway - we were laughing and having a great time trying to guess . I did a CrossFit workout this am with Cills group it went something like this :

10 clean & jerks 30#
1 rope climb
10 c&j
10 pullups
10 c&j
10 pass throughs
10 c&j
10 knees 2 elbows
10 c &j

repeat with 5 reps, keeping the rope climb to 1.
Great workout- I'm feeling a little sick, so it's just what I needed. I'm getting ready to go for a 6 mile run - nice and easy....Have a great day !! Posted by Picasa

Movie Night!!

My son Brandon and I took advantage of the new huge tv that Brendan bought and cuddled up together to watch XMen II. I can tell this winter there will be a lot of days like that ahead for us. Movies just don't seem as fun after you get spoiled like this. Thanks baby!!! ;) I was looking at this pic and WOW! Brandon looks a lot like me. I used to think he looked more like his father, Randy - but you can really see me in him also. Sarah was straightening her hair and didn't watch the movie with us - ahhh..teenage daughters!

Today I ran 7 miles on a 7.2 incline on Lilly, my treadmill. I'm not feeling all that great - sore throat, itchy eyes, tired. No CrossFit for me today...I need to take care of myself before it turns into a REAL problem. So, I'm overdosing on the Wellness Formula, Zinc, and Vit.C - drinking Throat Coat tea, and taking a nap. Sounds fun!! Have a great day people!!! Posted by Picasa

Saturday's fun at the play house!!

Saturday morning I went for a 7 mile tempo run....it felt great to move fast and get the miles in again. THEN I went to CrossFit for my baby's 9am class and he handed out some torture workout that damn near killed me!! Here it is :

500 meter row
15 sumo deadlift high pull at 55 pounds
500 meter row
15 thrusters
500 meter row
15 sdhp
500 meter row
15 thrusters
500 meter row
15 sdhp
500 meter row
15 thrusters

HOLY SHIT IS RIGHT!!! I swear i don't give him crack before he goes to work - just coffee. Too much coffee I guess cause he thinks this workout sounds like a good time. Actually it was awesome! The rows were hard with 3000 meters in there after a 7 mile run! :) stupid girl....I finished first girl - 3rd overall...not bad. What did YOU do to move today ?? Let me hear it!! Posted by Picasa

Ready for Christmas!!!

Burrrr...it's cold today! I have always loved the cold weather. You get to bundle up in sweaters, boots, hats, scarves. Cuddle up in a warm bed and be lazy...watch movies. I love it all. I went for a long run this morning and boy was it COLD out there! But, I still loved it. The storm is bringing in some huge waves, so there were a lot of surfers out at the point. It felt great to run outside again... I haven't since the marathon, because I was recooperating and using the treadmill instead. I just got the HUGE 42" HD Plasma TV that B bought installed on my bedroom wall and i am super STOKED!! This weekend will be all about relaxing in bed (after running of course) and watching movies. I can't wait!! My body needs the rest, and so does my mind! I've been struck with some news today that my x husband has gone out on some dates with my friend. It was hard to take at first, because I always thought friends and x's were off limits. She says it's not to that point yet - even if it is - I will be happy for him. He deserves to find somebody and be happy like I am. I want that for him. Plus I love her as a person and my kids know her - I guess that makes it easier, if there is an easier. I have been learning a lot of lessons about what friendship really is - some have been hard lessons - but there is always an upside to the down side, right ? I can only be responsible for how i act - not what is done to me. I have learned to communicate better and that talking about the hard stuff is good - not bad.

Thought for the day : "Success is determined by how you handle setbacks."
I have had my share of setbacks this year - but I am handling it okay I think. I am trying to embrace the quote that says "that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger" - I am getting stronger every day!! Having Brendan in my life has changed me for the better...I am thannkful for him more and more everyday!!! :) Posted by Picasa

Building sweet houses....

After school my children and I constructed a tasty gingerbread house - complete with all the yummy candy. Brendan helped with his carpenter skills and put the roof on for us. I think I made only 1 house before with the kids....I think it's our new tradition. Brandon kept wanting to sneep tastes of the frosting "glue" and little candies...that's my little sugar fiend for ya. Sarah bit the leg off the gingerbread man, so he became a criple....:) This is the first Christmas since the divorce and I am praying that it is a good one, and all the scheduling works out. I don't want either Randy or I to miss out celebrating with the children. My kids are so amazing to me the way they have adjusted and dealt with al the changes.....my son has started to toughen up a little, which was needed. Sarah has always been the easy going one...she just goes with the flow. My relationship with her has gotten stronger, and we are like girlfriends now too. They mean everything to me. Today I am having the plasma TV Brendan bought installed in my bedroom - I plan on keeping the children home from school when the first storm hits so we can lay in bed all day and watch movies together, eat crap together, laugh til it hurts- paint nails (just the girls) and have a bonding play sick day. The kids are really excited for when a storm hits!! Randy has gotten the kids involved with climbing at Pacific Edge and I am so thrilled they have that activity they enjoy together. I am still trying to figure out what activity I can share with them. Usually I have all Sarah's friends - I love all her girlfriends like my own- over the house on my weekends also so we do whatever they want. This weekend we are cutting down our Christmas tree and decorating it with friends. Anyway - I guess I am rambling....I just want everybody to know my kids RULE!!! Posted by Picasa

Locked and Loaded....

This is another picture taken by Kelly at Strange Angel Studios in Santa Cruz - she is truly amazing!! I got back to an almost normal workout schedule today. I was feeling strong and ready to dig in ! I ran 5 miles at a moderate pace - 7:35 this morning - then did a CrossFit workout with Brendan, Annie, BK and myself at 11:00 - this is how it went :

Row 1,000 meters
21 thrusters at 65 pounds
max pull ups
21 thrusters at 65 pounds
max pull ups
row 1,000 meters

It was great to work out with Annie - even though she finished before everybody...and that even after having a baby a few months back :) By the way, I am in LOVE with her daughter Dylan. And I always LOVE working out with my baby - it's the best...just his presence motivates me to push myself harder.
Welp - I'm going to bed. I'm whooped....I plan on doing a longer run tomorrow at 6am. Anyone want to join me ? Posted by Picasa

Easy does it....

Today was my first day back to CrossFit after the marathon ...I know I am supposed to take more time off, but I feel like I needed to move and work out the soreness in my thighs. I took it easy though..no racing for time for this girl today. Here's the workout :

Alley Loop (600 meters)
30 snatches 25# dumbell right arm
30 snatches 25# dumbell left arm
Alley Loop (600 meters)

Tabata l sits mixed with Tabata l sit pass throughs/hold.
50 back extensions
50 GHD
stretches and more stretches.

It felt great to move, but it still was sore on the running sections. Tomorrow I will feel better and run for an hour. I had to be at Dominican Hospital this morning at 8:15 for an injection of some bad chemicals - not sure what it was but I had to go to Nuclear Medicina to get it! Then I returned 3 hours later to get my bone scan done of my pelvis hip area. I am hoping something shows up. My doctor cleared me of the bulging disk I had a few months back but suspects a stress fracture somewhere. Let's hope they can figure out what the problem is so i can get over it!! The technician was awesome! I think his name was Terrell - he has a 2:50 marathon at Boston and is interested in training with me at CrossFit. I gave him my number so we can set a first session date and time....cool huh ? I can't wait to train an awesome runner like he is!!! Posted by Picasa

Aquarius Dec 4th 2006

"This week I propose that you feel gratitude for every person who has ever told you that you were inadequate, that there was something wrong with you, that you would never amount to anything. You might even carry out a little ceremony in which you bow down to an altar containing their photos or slips of paper on which their names are written. And why am I suggesting this ? Because those jerks helped motivate you to become as cool as you are! And if I'm reading the omens correctly, it's time to summon a huge new burst of creative energy as you disprove their misbegotten ideas about you even more completely." - the Metro astrology..

YUP - that's exactly what i am doing. There have been many people in my life who made me feel like I wasn't good enough - that I couldn't do anything. Well, I am breaking out of that mindset and starting to take steps to become a new person, a stronger one. I want so much out of life - I am scared to grab it, but i am doing it anyway!! One little step at a time. It all starts with my insides....changing my mindset and becoming a strong woman. Hell, that's what the photo shoot was for - so I can see what a strong beautiful woman I am....not the peice of garbage that my inner dialogue tells me I am, or voices from my past. I am woman baby!!! Can you handle it ??? Posted by Picasa

Strange Angel Photographer Kelly RULES!!!

Remember a while back I posted those pics of me getting ready for a Tank Girl meets Mad Max photo shoot ? Well - this is one of the pics from that shoot. Kelly did such a fantastic job making me look like the strong, in charge, sexy woman that I wanted to project to the world! The pictures she dropped off to me are beautiful. I can't believe that they are me....Thank you Kelly. I love you girl!! Posted by Picasa

WOO HOO Mile 10!!!

Here's me and my group of boys that i was running with for a while. This was around mile 10...Brendan met me there and snapped a few pics. I was happy to see him there waiting for me. He ran along side me for a little while, which made me smile. I was feeling great at this point!! Quick 7:35 pace and feeling strong and singing to my music the whole way.... Posted by Picasa

Finish line fun with statues

Okay - don't make a huge naked Greek God Poseidon statue and not expect people to take stupid pictures like this.
His "danger zone" looked weird :0 Posted by Picasa

And the heavens smile on my accomplishment, and on us!!

Isn't this the best picture you have EVER seen ? I think so!! Look at the sun's rays and how they are shinning on Brendan and I - so cool! That's the Capitol building behind us, where the race finished at. It was beautiful alright. We tried to talk to Arnold, but I guess he has Sunday's off :) Thanks to everybody who cared about me the past few days and helped me to see that I do have friends that care about me. Your comments and love helped me keep putting one foot in front of the other. Brendan, you are the best! Thanks for navigating around and seeing me along the course and being at the finish to scoop me up in to your arms, even though I might have barfed on you. I love you baby!!! You make everything better...even running a marathon is better cause i know I'm running to you :) Posted by Picasa

Note to self....

too much Gu mixed with Cytomax will make you feel like throwing your guts out!!! (get it, got it, good!)

Do NOT make the same mistake as I did :0 Posted by Picasa

CrossFit finish baby!!

Yup - I'm representing the CrossFit community at the Cal International....At this point I was feeling much better. No more motion sickness and leg cramps. Now I just need food. Okay, about the actual race - I felt strong until mile 20....my pace was a 7:33 - 7:45, slower than i wanted - but with my hip feeling the way that it did I was going to take anything I could get! I made sure to have a great dinner - Filet Minon and vegetables, B had lamb and vegetables - we ate and headed straight to bed. Well, I went to bed while Brendan watched a movie. I was alsppe by 9pm and up at 4:30. We ended up driving 3 other runners to the start because the bus from the hotel already left. Can U believe that ? If they didn't see us, I don't know what they would have done. So - we started the race by saving the day for 3 lucky athletes. Andrew, one of the passengers in our truck, finished in like 2:45 or so!!! The other 2 women were first time marathoners and i was able to encourage them and give them some pointers about the course. Cool huh ? You never know when you are going to be used to help other people!! Posted by Picasa

Awww....comfort

This is me after I made it through the crowd to Brendan.....I was so sick!! It's over and I am glad!!! :) Now get me some food, a coffee and a shower - STAT!! Posted by Picasa

Where's my baby!!??

Oh my god - this was me after the finish when I saw Brendan. It was like a panic inside me because I was so hurt and in pain - I was crying and just wanted him to hold me - I was ready to push people out of the way to get to him. I think I did!! Again, we do this to ourselves ....why ??? Posted by Picasa

I'm coming home!!

This is me pushing it at the finish line in the California International Marathon. My finish time was around 3:29:20 or something like that. I ended up stopping to pee (because somebody wouldn't let me pee on myself -you know who you are) and i lost like 3 minutes waiting in line and stuff - I had to really push the last 3 miles to try and get there by 3:30. The weather was awesome for a marathon - cold and brisk but no rain, not hot or too sunny....beautiful! More pics to come....Hey, thanks to everybody for sending me the love and encouragemt and good energy for the race this weekend. I felt it and it kept me going. I was having right hip and leg problems starting 2 days ago and going into the race I felt I might have a problem. I felt strong - doing an average of 7:35 minutes miles until mile 20 - the the hip and legs hurt like HELL with every step I took....I thought "Hey, Coach Glassman might really know what he's talking about when he says endurance sports aren't good for you." I observed the racers around me - their once pushed back and strong shoulders now hunching over and rounded, their stride fucked up and knees knocking, arms crossing over in front of the chest line - they looked wounded. People were dropping like flies all around me. Weird - we do this why ? I think after Boston and an attempt at a 50 miler I may just put all my strength and energy into becoming a strong CrossFitter and run races like 10k's, 13milers and an occasional marathon. Catra, I have no fucking idea how or why you run 100's back to back like you do. You must be nuts. Running 26 miles fast sucks ass - everything in you says stop. Anyway - I feel great and thanks to everybody for getting me to the finish!!! Posted by Picasa

You can do it anywhere!!

L sit that is!!! I did a little 4 mile run this morning at an easy pace just to get my muscles warmed up and ready for tomorrow. Last night Brendan was l sitting in my kitchen so i thought I would do it today while the coffee was brewing. No excuses - just get it done!!
Yesterday's workout was this :

1 rope climb
15 pushups
20 squats
How many rounds in 20 minutes ??

I did 12 rounds (I think) Eva T. and I were tied for first female....I love working out with Eva - she's so strong and such an inspiration to me. Well - I'm off to pack my race stuff and get a little OCD'd about it and drive to Sacramento to attend the Expo. Again - thanks to all for yesterday and make sure to send me the love for tomorrows race. I WILL be sporting a CrossFit shirt - gotta represent ya know?! Posted by Picasa

California International Marathon 2006!!

Here I come!! I want to say "thank you" to everybody who wrote to me yesterday and supported me and reached out to me in love! I was very moved by all of you on my blog and all the e mails i recieved. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I am much better today and I feel positive and I feel loved. Sometimes when we are in a dark place within ourselves and there doesn't seem to be anything to be happy about - that's when we need friends to help pull us out and be strong for us. You all helped me so much!! This is the medal i got last year from the CIM marathon where I finished in 3:26 something. I was hoping for a 3:20, but i had done a marathon 4 weeks prior and was a little burnt out. I don't know what i am capable of running for tomorrow - I will push as hard as i can. Please send me your thoughts, prayers, vibes - whatever you want that is positive!! I will feel it and can use it for sure!!! Much love to you all and thanks again!!! Posted by Picasa

Have you ever felt like everything you do is wrong ? Or like crawling inside yourself and simply disappearing? Welcome to my world today. I am at fault for wearing my emotions on my sleeve and for doing too much. If I am sad, I show it - I cry...I'm not one of those who hold it in and acts like everything is dandy. Nope, not me - I cry and cry until my eyes puff up and I feel like shit! Is that bad ? I think that I'm not good enough as the person that i am. At least that is how I see myself today. I feel that I have to be careful in every move that I make - am I acting okay ? Am I putting off a wrong vibe ? What am I saying ? Does it sound stupid? I feel like a mud pie gone bad - you know what mud pies are ? They are messy and dirty, sloppy no shape or form to them. You try really hard to get them to look nice, round - like a yummy pie that you are proud of making - but any way you look at it, it's made out of mud - DIRT. Not pretty - or tasty - just dirt. Yup, that's me. I used to be a clay vessel formed from God's own hands - He molded me, and made me into His vessel for His work. He said I was perfect the way i was, and I felt it. I didn't really analyze every move that i made becausze I made most of them in love. Okay, I was a little controlling and had some traits that needed adjustment for sure. Who doesn't ? But mostly I felt good - like I was good, there was good in me. I rarely cried, or felt extreme sadness. I had lots of friends who loved me and I loved them. There was nothing I wouldn't do for them. One of my friends loved to mountian bike and had a shitty bike that creaked when she rode it and the seat was torn. I bought her a new top of the line mountian bike - fit for her. Just to make her happy and want to ride more often and feel loved. My other friend started school and had a 1 year old at home - she was going to put her in day care but couldn't really afford the costs. I started watching her for free because I wanted to support my friends ambition to become a nurse without her worrying about her daughter's well being. Another friend got breast cancer and lived right down the street from me. After surgery she couldn't get out of bed on her own so I went there every morning to help her out of bed. I took her to the sauna to detox her body from chemo, I went to the health food store almost daily with her to get her the vitamin rich juice that she was recommended to drink everyday - hell, I even drank it with her so she didn't have to do it alone. It tasted like SHIT, but I did it. I went shopping for her, juiced her veggies for her, and made shure I was there to help her in any way she needed - clean the house ? Sure. Feed the dogs ? no problem. I hosted a dinner every Monday evening and cooked for 12 people - We bought all the food and wine and I spent the day cooking 3 course meals. Now wait a minute I am not trying to toot my own horn - this is going somewhere, just hang on. I belonged to a church for 13 years and i loved my church. I served as an overseer, worked in the childrens ministy, the food outreach, prayer team, and lead a home group.. Wherever they needed me, i was willing to be there. We gave 10% of all we made from the gross amount, I baked over 300 cookies for Christmas for the feast we would have. I LOVED everybody there. Now this is what i am getting at - when I decided to leave my husband all the above didn't matter anymore. I never got a fucking phone call from the pastor, or his wife. The friends I showed love to never called me, in fact they forgot all about me. The one whos daughter I watched was my best friend. She chose my x over me, and we are friends no more. In fact - I lost my entire world that i had for 13 years. So if I get a little over emotional sometimes give me a fucking break! I have been through a total life change and I am pissed, hurt, confused, lonely, lost, I am every emotion and I can't take it anymore. I feel like cracking!! Most of the time I can see that inside me I am still good and worthy to be loved and to be a friend. I genually care about people and want to make them happy. But I feel stuck and don't know how to make myself happy. Where is the fight in me ? Where is the woman who would say "This is me this is who I am....if you don't like it, I'm not changing for you!" Where is my ambition? I had such great ambition before. I know it's in there, buried somewhere inside. Okay - I feel better now. I know things will get easier and I will get new friends, real friends. I know that this is a phase and I will get my fight back because I am a fighter - I survive and get better. Thanks for listening. Now I'm going for a run to cry and not be judged for crying, to feel and take in everything. Hopefully I will end my run feeling lighter, happier, and with some focus and drive. God, are you still molding me ? Or have you given up on me like the others ? Remove the dirt from me and make me a beautiful vessel again - help me feel it. Help me know it.
