Me and cuzin Michele!!

We did it cousin!!! She tore it up! I am so proud of her...she did not train for the race - nor did I - ran through some tough hills, and some crazy distance all with a compromised knee....we are crazy cousins and that's the way we like it!!! All the women on the course loved our pink skirts, gloves, beenies and anything else we found pink to run in.....Go team!!! A lady had a sign around mile 20 that read..."Suck It Cancer!!" I laughed so hard......then yelled "Yea....suck it cancer!!!" We danced and had so much fun that everybody wondered how we were able to do that.
Cause we love eachother, support eachother, and help eachother to take another step forward when we feel like stopping. Michele has always been there for me, and I for her. We've both traveled through some really dark places in our lives, some together, some not.....but we always knew that we could do a race together and somehow everything just felt better after that. I'm still a little scared about what tomorrow holds for me and scared for her and that lump she feels...but I know no matter what life throws at us - we will be there for one another - arms wrapped around the others shoulders - race bib pinned to our shirts - saying "c'mon couzin you can do it..." and we ALWAYS do. Somehow. And after the race and the time spent together laughing - it's always better in the world.

Nike Women's Marathon San Francisco 2007

My cousin Michele and I ran the Women's Marathon today in San Francisco. This is a pic taken Saturday at the check in Expo at Union Square. There's a wall there where you can write down the names of the people who either suffered from or are fighting cancer. We were asked to run in honor of our Aunt Judy who lost her battle to breast cancer. October is breast cancer awareness month - so what a better time to honor another woman who showed strength. This marathon was hosted by Team In Training and I think all the women who ran raised over 18 million for cancer research. How incredible!!! I'm pointing to what I wtote on the wall. It says..." I'm running for Aunt Judy. We love you. Shari & Michele." Turns out I ended up running in honor of many people - my friend Debbie who lost a breast to cancer, my grandfather who lost his life to cancer.....my aunt Donna and Uncle Dave, Aunt Judy, Lupe, my friend Suzanne Mancebo, my sons teacher Michelle Stewart who survived breast cancer.....and my cousin who just found a lump. I'm also facing the fact that I may have mouth cancer.....it's very powerful to run for others because they can't. Some lost their battles but will never be forgotten. Others are still in the fight, some have just started....we are all connected as humans who need eachother. Thanks for the inspiration.........

Warm up run - beautiful!!!

Man - the warm up run for XFit NSC was so beautiful! The air was brisk, the trees are all turning colors and the way Dan Grant headed up the pack started the vibe off to a great start! Everybody that came gave it their all and can't wait to come back. The first seminar will be held in November and I'm sure it will be outstanding.....

Justin Timberlake WE LOVE YOU!!!

I took my daughters Sarah and Mia to the Justin Timberlake concert on the 23rd and we had a BLAST!!! Talk about a great concert! We danced, screamed and partied all night. We didn't get home until 1am and I had to be awake at 4am!! My 5 am clients were understanding as I gulped my coffee down! Sarah's voice was SHOT from the amount of screaming she did. I loves getting to hang out with her and Mia all night....they're really fun girls. Sarah actually reminds me a lot of myself when I was a 8th grader......except better than I was. Tahnks GOD!

Here's the "morning after" workout I gave my clients...

10 burpees
50 thrusters with 45 # barmen, 33# bar women
15 burpees
40 thrusters
20 burpees
30 thrusters
25 burpees
20 thrusters
30 burpees
10 thrusters

They finished around 24 minutes. I did the workout later that day and finished in 18:15. Brendan did it for the fastest time at 14:something. Crazy guy. I thought 18 was fast!! Give it a try and see what you do!

Baby-- where you get your body from ???

CROSSFIT! Marathon season always changes my body a little. I tend to lean out and loose some muscle. But, that's okay....you want to be light on your feet if you wanna run 26 miles fast! I'm down to 102 in this pic....maintaining strength at CrossFit is a little hard, but I feel like I am. Here's a workout....

15 single arm snatches on right with 35# dumbell
15 snatches on left
15 deadlifts at 115 pounds
run Caldwell loop (800 meters)
12 snatches on right
12 snatches on left
12 deadlifts
run 400 meters
9 snatches on right
9 snatches on left
9 deadlifts
run 200 meters

I also did max deadlift. here's how it went :

10 - 95 #
5 - 105#
3 - 115#
3 - 135#
2 - 155#
2 - 165#
1 - 170#
1 - 175#
1 - 180#
1 - 185# MISS
1 - 183# got it
1 - 185# MISS
MAX - 183#

Not bad since I only weigh 102!!!

How'd I get so lucky!!??

This was our first "official" trail run together as a group. Brendan, me and our friend Cobra. We went for a 7-8 mile run in Nisene Marks and had so much fun!! It was a beautiful day and the trails were cool. Cobra lives around the corner and is a lot of fun to hang out with. We started running together in the mornings when he doesn't have to be at work and when Brendan's schedule allows, he comes too. Can't wait for our next run!! I love this picture ---- me with 2 great looking men! Lucky me!!

Bad-Ass Little B

Okay - so to make all of you feel even weak I have to brag about my 10 year old son. Here he is doing handstand push ups off the P bars. He got 3 in before coming down. I am SUPER proud of him and his determination at CrossFit. He's been wokring out with me 2-3 days a week and he pushes himself every time. This was his first day of getting upside down and attempting the HSPU, and he did it!!! Way to go Brandon!!!

A friend from the past....

This is me and my friend Lisa P. I haven't seen or talked to her since Randy and I divorced, or actually back when Randy asked her to leave our home group. Long story but I love her, have always wanted to talk with her and tell her how I feel and I'm stoked she came back into my life. We met for coffee and to catch up last week. This weekend Brendan and I are going to her home for a BBQ and to hang out.....I can't wait :)

New little cousin Jackson Graham

This is my new cousin Jackson Graham at 7 weeks (I think). Brandon is absolutely in love with him. So much so that he has been asking for a little brother. Hmmm....do I want to do that all over again ? Would I ? I love babies - but I loathe being pregnate. It would be amazing to have another child and have my kids be more a part of raising and taking care of the new one. They would be such helpers. Sarah would be a built in baby sitter - so would my son. Hmm...time is kinda running out for me. I'm fast approaching 40 and I would not want to have a baby beyond that year. Guess we have some thinking to do :) Until then - we will dote over little Jackson and Annie's baby Dylan...

Tattoo Photo Gallery

My cousin Jeff, me, my bro and my son Brandon a couple weekends ago. We went to the Polynesian Festival on the wharf, then hit up the tattoo expo at Michaelangelo's Gallery off Hwy 9. I freaked out when I saw a huge poster of me and the kids dad, Randy on the wall. Trippy. It sorta made me a little sad to see the two of us up there, and where we are now. Time changes things - you never know what will happen to you in your life, or how you will grow and change. What is happening right now could be 100 percent different in a year. Ponder this thought....

Girl drink drunk!!!

We decided to try out that new restaurant downtown called Hulas. This is my brother James and my beautiful daughter Sarah sipping their Hawaiian drinks (Sarah's non alcoholic of course). I didn't really like the restaurant too much. It was small and crowded and a little crampy. The fish was alright, but I wasn't too impressed. The atmosphere was cool though - very Hawaiian. Give it a try and see what you think!

Uncle James is in town!!

My brother came for a visit from Oregon for a couple weeks and we went to the Boardwalk and hung out. I had to work, so I didn't get to entertain him too much - he also was here to do some painting in exchange for tattoos. We saw eachother in the evening - he was stoked to hop on the cruiser and ride to be near the beach every morning. To tell you the truth - I think that's the only reason he's visiting. This pic was taken early in the day - later that evening we discovered he lost his wallet...probably on on of the rides. The start of his vacation didn't go too well - I backed into his brand new car and cracked the drivers headlight....lost hid wallet....and I think that was it. Poor uncle James....bet he was glad to get home :) Until next visit!!!
